Getting engaged is one of the most exciting times of your life, but the time leading up to it can be anxiety ridden for some. You may very well be wondering “when is my partner going to propose?!”

We’re going to put your mind at ease with these 5 signs you’re almost engaged.

1. They act nervous or needy.

You’re more intuitive than you think, and you can sense when your significant other is acting a little nervous, needy, or even secretive.

You might notice that your partner is a little more affectionate than usual, peppering more “I love yous” than he or she typically does.

They might also be more secretive, hiding away their cell phone more often or sneaking away to unknown locations. If that’s not typical behavior, don’t be alarmed. It may just be a proposal in your future.

2. They get closer – or awkward – with your friends and family.

You might notice that your significant other is getting closer with your friends or family. Your partner is committing to becoming part of your family, so spending more time with them is often a sign that marriage could be coming.

He or she has undoubtedly trusted some of your loved ones with the secret of popping the question, so they might also be a little more tense around friends and family too.

3. There’s an increase in “future” talk.

It’s healthy for couples to talk about the future, but when marriage is on the mind, you might find that your significant other is even more sentimental than usual.

Your partner might be talking, thinking, scrolling, or sorting through more memories than normal. He or she may be a little more affectionate too.

4. They aren’t spending.

Your significant other might be noticeably spending less money than usual. Whether saving for the engagement ring or for the big day that comes after, your partner may be spending far less than he or she normally does.

The average engagement ring costs $4,000, so it makes sense that your partner is realizing that pinching pennies is important right now.

5. They’re noticing a lot more around your style and jewelry preferences.

Some partners might be found snooping around your jewelry box for your ring preferences or size, while others might be gauging your style a little more closely by taking note of what’s in your closet.

Other significant others might start making hints by using your friends’ rings: what do you like? What do you not like? Subtle or not, it’s a great way to start the conversation about your taste.

And those are just 5 ways you’ll know your partner is about to propose. We wish you all the happiness in the world!
