Congratulations on your engagement!

It’s a time to celebrate…and one way to do it is by having an engagement party. But where do you begin? What do you need to know?

In this post, we’ll guide you through everything you need to know about having an engagement party — from planning to hosting, and all the details in between.

Planning

Before you start putting together the details for your engagement party, decide on a budget and theme. Plus, other important details, like:

  • Who do you want to invite?
  • Do you want a big or small party?
  • Indoor or outdoor?

Once you have these basics down, create a checklist of to-dos. This should include the following:

  • Choose a venue
  • Pick out invitations
  • Select a menu
  • Set up decor

Depending on the size and formality of the party, you may also want to consider hiring a planner.

Venue

If you’re planning an engagement party in your backyard, rental tents can be an excellent option to create a romantic look and feel. The soft glow of string lights, gently swaying in the breeze beneath the elegant fabric of a tent, sets the stage for an enchanting evening.

The intimate space created by the tent offers a sense of privacy, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the celebration of love. Plus, the ambiance becomes truly magical with strategically placed candles, plush seating, and delicate drapery.

Overall, tents provide a charming and cozy atmosphere perfect for celebrating this joyous occasion, surrounded by nature’s beauty while basking in the glow of love and togetherness.

Invitations

Your invitations should be sent out at least two to three weeks before the event. Remember, it’s not necessary to invite everyone to your engagement party who will be invited to the wedding.

It’s also acceptable to send out digital invitations these days for this type of event. The invitations should include basic details such as date, time, location, and RSVP.

Decor

Decorate the party space to reflect your theme and style. Add balloons, streamers, flowers, and lighting to set the ambiance.

Engagement parties don’t have to be too formal, so it’s okay to keep the decor simple and fun. Keep the focus on the happy couple and the milestone they are celebrating.

Food and Beverages

The menu should be simple and easy to eat. Finger foods, appetizers, and desserts are great options for an engagement party.

You can provide alcohol, but it’s unnecessary if you prefer not to. There should be plenty of non-alcoholic options for guests — such as soda, water, and lemonade. Games and activities can also be provided to keep guests entertained.

Thank You Notes

After the party, it’s important to send thank you notes to all guests who attended. This can be a handwritten note or a digital card expressing your gratitude for their support and presence.

You could also include a small token of appreciation, like a photo of the couple or a small favor.

An engagement party is a great way to celebrate your special milestone with family and friends. Plan ahead, consider the budget, and enjoy the process. Remember, this is just the beginning of the exciting adventure leading up to the wedding.
